Trump Pushes Back on NYTimes Report About Musk Getting Briefing on War With China

President Donald Trump has now reportedly publicly refuted a report from The New York Times suggesting that his advisor, Elon Musk, is set to receive a Pentagon briefing regarding U.S. military strategies in the event of a war with China.

The Times claimed, citing two U.S. officials, that Musk would be briefed on top-secret military plans, specifically concerning China, with the briefing scheduled for Friday at the Pentagon.

However, these unnamed sources provided no additional details about the briefing.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump declared the report to be “completely untrue,” emphasizing that discussions about China would not occur during the briefing.

He reiterated on Friday morning that Musk would “NOT BEING BRIEFED ON ANYTHING CHINA BY THE DEPARTMENT OF WAR!” Trump criticized what he termed the “FAKE concept” of the story, asserting that it falsely implied Musk’s business dealings in China would lead him to disclose sensitive information to the Chinese government.

He also accused various media outlets, including CNN, of sensationalizing the issue for ratings.

Musk, a key ally of Trump, echoed these sentiments on his social media platform, X (formerly Twitter), claiming that those leaking information from the Pentagon to The New York Times would be held accountable.

He described the newspaper as “pure propaganda” and looked forward to the prosecution of those responsible for spreading what he deemed malicious misinformation.

Further reports indicated that Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth confirmed Musk’s briefing at the Pentagon, clarifying that it would focus on issues such as innovation and production efficiencies rather than any military plans linked to China.

Chief Pentagon spokesman Sean Parnell also reiterated that the Times’ report was “brazenly & maliciously wrong,” asserting Musk’s commitment to national interests.
