Fox News host Sean Hannity fiercely criticized media outlets for what he described as a “phony outrage” over a leaked group chat involving senior cabinet officials discussing military plans against Houthi rebels in Yemen.
The controversy arose after The Atlantic’s editor-in-chief, Jeffrey Goldberg, reported that he was accidentally added to a chat led by President Donald Trump’s national security advisor, Mike Waltz, which included various administration figures such as Vice President JD Vance and Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth.
On his show, Hannity expressed disdain for the “legacy media mob” and their focus on this incident, claiming they are overlooking significant achievements under the Trump administration, such as declining gas prices and improved mortgage rates.

He suggested that the media is fixated on a minor leak while ignoring substantial accomplishments that benefit working Americans.
Furthermore, Hannity contended that these media outlets had previously “covered up” President Joe Biden’s cognitive decline and misrepresented issues like border security, raising doubts about their current concern for national security.
Hannity dismissed the narrative pushed by the media as a mere distraction, hinting that their focus on the leaked chat represents a broader pattern of left-wing smears against the Trump administration.
He criticized the media’s priorities, arguing that they are more invested in sensational stories about leaked messages rather than issues that significantly impact the nation.
He also predicted that this would become the week’s major media story, but one that ultimately fails to resonate with the public.
Hannity’s remarks highlight a growing divide between conservative media figures and mainstream news outlets regarding the portrayal of political happenings and national security matters.
