On a recent episode of Fox News Sunday, anchor Shannon Bream reportedly confronted Congressman Byron Donalds (R-FL) regarding the escalating concerns within the GOP about a special election to fill the seat of former National Security Adviser Mike Waltz.
Reports indicate that Republicans are in “full-blown panic mode” as the race tightens in a district that leans heavily toward Trump.
During the discussion, Bream highlighted the razor-thin margins in polling results, which show the special election is running neck-and-neck.
Notably, Donald Trump recently withdrew his endorsement of Rep. Elise Stefanik (R-NY) for the role of U.S. ambassador to the United Nations, an unusual move aimed at safeguarding the fragile Republican majority in the House.
BREAM: “These House races in Florida are closer than you would like. Why is that race so close?”
DONALDS: “Special elections carry different dynamics. Democrats are highly motivated due to their losses last November. They’re mobilizing to the polls, while Republican turnout is crucial to securing victories in districts like Florida’s sixth.”
Donalds assured viewers that preliminary reports indicate an uptick in Republican voter turnout in the district. He emphasized that as long as Republican voters show up, the party’s chances remain strong.
Bream reminded Donalds of the broader implications of the House makeup, noting the GOP’s vulnerability with several empty seats, underscoring the need for every Republican vote.
As Election Day approaches, Donalds called on Republicans to participate actively in polling efforts, stating that maintaining turnout is essential for Trump’s agenda to continue making strides in the nation.
With a critical election looming, the pressure is on for the GOP to consolidate its support and secure its position in Congress.
