A recently declassified document has now reportedly revealed troubling plans that had been concocted by former President Joe Biden’s administration regarding the surveillance of American citizens under the pretext of combating domestic terrorism.
The “Strategic Implementation Plan for Countering Domestic Terrorism,” released by Tulsi Gabbard, the Director of National Intelligence, outlines a framework focused on enhancing federal and state cooperation to identify individuals perceived as threats.
The plan emphasizes improving data sharing among agencies to monitor and target individuals considered at risk of engaging in domestic terrorism.
This raises significant concerns about privacy and civil liberties, as it suggests a broadening of government surveillance capabilities.
Additionally, the administration sought to push for legislative measures, including bans on assault weapons and high-capacity magazines, reflecting a continued agenda to impose stricter gun control laws.
Such actions undermine the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding citizens and do little to address the root causes of violence.
The document also links to the “COVID-19 Hate Crimes Act,” which aims to enhance federal hate crime data.
Critics argue that linking public health issues to hate crimes could be a tactic to silence dissent and marginalize opposing viewpoints.
Perhaps most concerning are the implications for ideological control.
The document also suggested strengthening norms of so-called non-violent political expression while promoting faith in liberal governance, which could have easily lead to the government defining dissent as a form of domestic extremism.
Biden’s approach to domestic terrorism, particularly following the January 6 Capitol protests, highlights a trend toward government overreach.
The strategy raises alarms about the potential erosion of individual freedoms Americans would have faced under a second Biden or Harris administration had either managed to win the presidency in 2024.
