Tuesday, former first lady Melania Trump informed the public known that her mother had succumbed to an unspecified ailment.
“It is with deep sadness that I announce the passing of my beloved mother, Amalija,” Melania tweeted. “Amalija Knavs was a strong woman who always carried herself with grace, warmth, and dignity. She was entirely devoted to her husband, daughters, grandson, and son-in-law. We will miss her beyond measure and continue to honor and love her legacy.” Melania wrote in a post on X.
In recent weeks, Melania has been conspicuously absent from the public eye.
Former President Donald Trump informed attendees at his New Year’s party at Mar-a-Lago that Melania had retreated to the private sphere in order to attend to her mother in the hospital.
In lieu of attending the Trump family Christmas card, Melania opted to spend time with her mother.
Melania is reportedly preparing to increase her public appearances in 2024 in support of her husband’s re-election campaign.
