As he vies for a spot on the ballots of all fifty states prior to the November election, independent presidential candidate Robert F. Kennedy Jr. declares he is open to joining the Libertarian Party.
In an interview that aired on Saturday, Kennedy was questioned by CNN’s Michael Smerconish regarding the likelihood that he would run as the Libertarian candidate, which would have guaranteed him a spot on the ballot across the board.
“That’s something that we’re looking at. We have a really good relationship with Libertarian Party,” Kennedy remarked.
Kennedy expressed a positive outlook concerning his campaign to collect signatures and claimed that his recently disclosed endeavor to submit documentation for the formation of a new political party in multiple states (including North Carolina and Texas) provides him with “a benefit” in his pursuit to reduce the ballot access requirement.
Son of former U.S. Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy and nephew of former President John F. Kennedy, he initially declared his candidacy for the Democratic Party’s nomination in the 2024 election.
However, he subsequently opted to run as an independent candidate subsequent to voicing disapproval regarding the Democratic Party’s election procedures, which he characterized as devoid of debates.
Kennedy would receive double-digit support in some polls if pitted against former President Donald Trump and President Joe Biden. This comes as surveys indicate that voters are not enthusiastic about a rematch between the two in 2020.
