An Iranian intelligence operative is currently being pursued by the FBI for allegedly planning to assassinate current and former U.S. government officials, including Mike Pompeo, the former secretary of state under President Donald Trump.
Recently, the Miami field office of the Bureau issued a public alert seeking information on Majid Dastjani Farahani, who is suspected of being a member of Iran’s Ministry of Intelligence and Security.
An individual named Farahani, aged 42, was highlighted in a recent FBI Most Wanted notice.
The FBI mentioned that he is fluent in Farsi, French, Spanish, and English, and frequently travels between Iran and Venezuela.
The FBI reported that Farahani was enlisting people for different missions in the United States, including planning attacks on current and former U.S. Government officials as retaliation for the killing of Iranian Major General Qasem Soleimani in 2020 during the Trump and Pompeo administration.
In January 2020, Soleimani was killed in a U.S. drone strike authorized by Trump.
The Iranian general was responsible for the deaths of numerous American soldiers in Iraq.
Following Soleimani’s death, the Iranian general and other officials made a vow to seek revenge against the U.S.
