On Wednesday evening, Vice President Kamala Harris was subjected to intense criticism after her campaign disclosed that she would try and use leftist price control measures to combat inflation.
Three years ago, Harris played a role in the ongoing inflation crisis by casting the tie-breaking vote that advanced President Joe Biden’s American Rescue Plan in the U.S. Senate.
Within only weeks of the bill’s enactment, inflation rates experienced a significant increase.
Harris is now attempting to emulate Biden’s approach by maintaining the Biden-Harris administration’s policy of attributing the pain consumers experience during shopping to “corporate greed.”
Harris’s policy, the first original policy she has implemented during her campaign after her initial policy was one she appropriated from Republican presidential nominee Donald Trump, immediately evoked comparisons to the Soviet Union’s price controls, which only temporarily slowed the rise of prices but led to severe shortages of food and consumer goods.
