On Monday, CNN’s Van Jones expressed concern that the presidential election was almost a tie between former President Donald Trump and Vice President Kamala Harris, despite Harris’ favorable media coverage.
According to the RealClearPolling average, Trump currently maintains a.1% advantage over Harris in the seven swing states, a significant decrease from his 4.3% advantage over President Joe Biden during his tenure in the campaign.
Jones suggested on “CNN News Central” that Harris should have a clear advantage over Trump due to the media coverage and the alleged errors her opponent has made since she launched her campaign. She also noted that she has the potential to surge after the Democratic National Convention (DNC).
“We don’t wanna be tied. I don’t like being tied with Donald Trump because we’ve had now 20 plus days of positive press. He’s been falling down the stairs, slipping on banana peels and poking himself in the eyeball. We should not be tied. We want to pull ahead. That’s our opportunity this week.” Jones said.
Former Trump advisor David Urban seconded Jones’s point that despite the positive media coverage Harris and Trump are still basically tied in the race.
“That’s scary. That’s scary. We gotta go.” Jones said in response.
