On Friday, after the independent presidential candidate announced that he was endorsing former President Trump, members of Robert F. Kennedy Jr.’s extended family characterized it as a “betrayal of the values that our father and our family hold most dear.”
“We want an America filled with hope and bound together by a shared vision of a brighter future. We believe in Harris and Walz. Our brother Bobby’s decision to endorse Trump today is a betrayal of the values that our father and our family hold most dear.” Kerry Kennedy wrote along with several of her siblings.
In swing states such as Arizona and Pennsylvania, Robert F. Kennedy Jr. declared that he would suspend his independent campaign and withdraw his name from the ballot.
His name will continue to appear on the ballot in states that are almost entirely Democratic or Republican.
He also disclosed that he was supporting Trump, a development that had been anticipated for the majority of the week.
On Wednesday, Kennedy declared that he would address the nation on Friday regarding the destiny of his candidacy.
Sources close to Kennedy have indicated that he is currently in negotiations with the Trump campaign for a position in the prospective second Trump administration.
Additionally, Kennedy has taken steps to remove his name from the Arizona and Pennsylvania ballots since Wednesday.
