Batya Ungar-Sargon, a Newsweek opinion editor and pro-Trump journalist, attacked Trump’s running mate, Senator JD Vance (R-OH), for his response to the issue surrounding Tucker Carlson’s interview with and support for amateur historian Darryl Cooper.
During the conversation, Cooper said that Winston Churchill was “the chief villain” of World War II and that the Holocaust was an accident caused by bad logistical planning, all without mentioning Jews.
The uproar over Cooper and Carlson’s discussion was heightened when Vance conducted his own interview with the former Fox News presenter a few days after the Cooper interview was aired.
The Republican vice presidential nominee is also scheduled to appear alongside Carlson at a live event later this month.
Vance has supported Carlson despite the criticism.
However, conservative commentator Batya Ungar-Sargon was unhappy with Vance’s stance on the issue.
“What a disappointing response from @JDVance. It’s a dishonest strawman to say people are trying to censor the guy who thinks Hitler is in Heaven. The view is the future vice president of the United States should distance himself from those lavishly praising that man’s content.” Sargon said.
Sargon has been a reliable ally of the Trump administration for the past several years.
