New York’s Democrat Governor, Kathy Hochul, believes that former President Donald Trump’s Sunday night rally at Madison Square Garden signals a retreat.
“I think he’s waving the white flag of surrender,” Hochul mentioned during an appearance on MSNBC’s “The Weekend.”
Hochul pointed out that Trump is returning to familiar territory in New York City, suggesting he might prefer resting in his own home.
“He’s coming back to a city that he knows well. He’s comfortable here. Maybe he’d like to sleep in his own bed,” she told the outlet.
Hochul argued that Trump’s decision to stay within his comfort zone in New York City won’t help his campaign.
“He’s giving up, because why else would you come to New York City? You are not going to find undecided voters walking the streets of Manhattan today,” she claimed.
Meanwhile, Kamala Harris’ VP pick, Minnesota Governor, Tim Walz, compared Trump’s Sunday rally to a notorious 1939 pro-Nazi event.
While campaigning in Henderson, Nevada, Walz remarked, “Donald Trump’s got this big rally going at Madison Square Garden. There’s a direct parallel to a big rally that happened in the mid-1930s at Madison Square Garden.”
In February 1939, Madison Square Garden was the venue for a rally organized by the American Nazi Party, drawing 20,000 attendees to the iconic New York City location.
“And don’t think that he doesn’t know for one second exactly what they’re doing there,” Walz claimed.
“So look, we said we’re all running like everything’s on the line because it is, it is,” he told the audience.
“And I’ve been saying for the last three months or so that [there will] be plenty of time for all of us to sleep when we’re dead, now is not the time, now is not the time.”
