‘Clemency Package’ May Be On Horizon Trump And Hunter Biden

On Thursday, Andrew McCarthy, a former federal prosecutor, speculated that a “clemency package” might be in the works for President-elect Donald Trump and Hunter Biden.

Reports suggest that special counsel Jack Smith is wrapping up his investigations into Trump’s alleged mishandling of classified information and his actions following the 2020 election results.

While speaking to “Fox and Friends,” McCarthy suggested that if charges against Trump are dropped, it could pave the way for President Joe Biden to pardon Hunter Biden, who faced federal gun and tax charges.

“I also think from what I can gather that sort of a deal is coming together because everyone understands that President Biden is going to pardon his son Hunter,” McCarthy remarked.

“That is not going to go down well — at least if it’s in a vacuum because, of course, he vowed he wouldn’t do it, not that anyone took that too seriously.”

He thinks it would go “down easier for the country” if the Justice Department offered a “clemency package” that would dismiss both cases against Trump.

Steve Doocy, a co-host on the show, agreed, saying that pardoning Trump could soften the blow of a pardon for Hunter Biden.

McCarthy further elaborated, “If they dismiss it and it’s the Biden-Harris Justice Department that dismisses it. I think the judge goes along with it more easily. Whereas if Trump’s Justice Department has to dismiss the case, they may get pushback from Judge Chutkan.”

However, the White House maintained that there are no plans for President Biden to pardon his son before leaving office, despite Trump’s win.

Press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre reiterated, “Our answer stands, which is no.”

When asked about a possible commutation, she simply stated, “That’s not what we’re going to do.”
