Chris Wallace, the seasoned newscaster who departed Fox News after decades to join CNN’s brief streaming service, will now reportedly be departing the liberal network this autumn.
Wallace, who is 77 years old, stated that he has no intention of leaving the news industry and plans to pursue employment with a streaming service or in podcasting.
“This is the first time in 55 years I’ve been between jobs. I am actually excited and liberated by that.” Wallace said.
Wallace left Fox News in late 2021, where he had served as an anchor and debate moderator for two decades and hosted “Fox News Sunday.” He went on to join CNN.
He was hired as part of a significant initiative to expand CNN+, the cable network’s direct-to-consumer streaming service, at the time.
Wallace was subsequently selected to host a weekend talk show that interviewed celebrities, pundits, and other newsmakers. CNN+ was shuttered after less than a month due to its failure to gain traction.
The anchor’s departure, which occurs mere days after President-elect Trump’s reelection, is a significant setback to CNN’s roster of political analysts and presenters.
Additionally, it coincides with the network’s ongoing ratings challenges and the substantial inquiries regarding linear television viewership declines.
