Bill Maher Announces He May Quit His Show Over Trump

During a new interview with Jane Fonda, Bill Maher expressed his desire to “quit” his Real Time show because he does not want to deal with the trouble of covering another term of President-elect Donald Trump.

“I’m shitting my pants. I mean, I may quit because I don’t want to do another. I did all the Trump stuff before anybody. I said he was a con man before anyone else; I called him a mafia boss.” Maher said during a recent podcast appearance.

Maher asserted that Trump is “hostile” toward him and expressed his regret at being targeted by the president once more on social media.

“I’m bored with it,” the longtime Trump critic said.

“So find a new thing to do and not do Trump. Do something else,” Fonda replied.

“The show is the politics, there’s no other thing, and he’s going to dominate the news like he always does,” Maher said.

At the beginning of this year, the host of Real Time also stated that he was also considering ending his career as a stand-up comedian.

“I could go back. I don’t want to make a big announcement or something. I’m doing a special at the end of the year. It’ll be my 13th for HBO. That’s a lot,” Maher announced.

During their interview, Maher and Fonda encountered numerous tense moments, including one that transpired over the state of California.

Fonda responded to Maher after he decried the state as “extremely leftist” and asserted that there are an excessive number of regulations and taxes imposed on residents, particularly landowners.

“You’ve never heard that California is over-taxed and over-regulated? That we are a one-party state where there’s no checks on extreme leftism?” Maher said.
