Kari Lake, a former news anchor who is a staunch admirer of Trump, has now reportedly been appointed to the position of head of the government-funded news organization Voice of America, according to an announcement made by President-elect Trump.
“I am pleased to announce that Kari Lake will serve as our next Director of the Voice of America. She will be appointed by, and work closely with, our next head of the U.S. Agency for Global Media, who I will announce soon, to ensure that the American values of Freedom and Liberty are broadcast around the World FAIRLY and ACCURATELY, unlike the lies spread by the Fake News Media.” Trump wrote on his Truth Social platform.
In 2024, Lake was unsuccessful in her attempt to represent Arizona in the Senate, following her failure in 2022 to win the election for governor of Arizona.
The Voice of America (VOA) is a media organization that provides services in more than forty different languages.
Internet, mobile and social media, radio, and television are the mediums via which it disseminates news, information, and cultural programming that promote the interests of the United States, as stated on its website.
Before gaining the national political spotlight with her bid for governor in 2022, Lake was a news anchor located in Phoenix for more than twenty years.
Lake made her name as a frequent cutting criticism of mainstream media and liberals in general.
Trump applauded Lake’s performance in the debate against Senator-elect Ruben Gallego (Democrat), whom she lost to last month.
Lake campaigned alongside Trump prior to the election in November, and the president-elect acknowledged her performance.
Lake has undertaken a number of legal challenges, all of which have been dismissed by the court, in an effort to contest the outcomes of the governor’s election, which she lost to Katie Hobbs, who is now the governor of the state, by a margin of only 17,000 votes in 2022.
