Billionaire Mark Cuban Claims He Ignored Instructions From Harris Campaign While Acting as Surrogate

The billionaire investor Mark Cuban reportedly stated that he did not pay attention to the notes that the campaign of Vice President Harris was providing to him while he was serving as their acting spokesperson on the campaign trail.

“I would go into immigration and, you know, I was honest, I would not let the Harris campaign tell me what to say. They would try to give me notes and I would say, ‘I don’t care,’” Cuban said during a new appearance on John Stewarts’ Podcast “The Weekly Show.”

A proposed minimum tax of 25 percent on total income surpassing $100 million, including so-called “unrealized gains” on assets that have not yet been sold, was one of the few places in which Cuban publicly broke with Harris throughout the campaign.

This was one of the few instances in which Cuban came out against Harris.

A statement made by Cuban on Stewart’s show hinted that the Harris campaign secretly agreed with his critique of the plan, which was included in the budget proposal that President Biden proposed for the year 2025.

“I talked a lot about unrealized gains and, you know, when I went out there for the first time and said that was ridiculous and I went back and spoke to them and said, you know, I’m not hearing you guys challenge me at all, and they were like, well, you’re saying things that we would like to say, but we can’t say, so I kept on going with it,” Cuban remarked.

“So I took that as asset approval and went with it, so that was one area,” he added.

Cuban was one of the most recognizable campaign surrogates, particularly from the business world, and he traveled across the country in order to promote Harris’s economic plans.

During the time that he was offering severe criticism of her opponent, President-elect Trump, Cuban also later extended his congratulations to the Republican candidate after his victory in the general election. He also extended his congratulations to fellow billionaire Elon Musk, who is a significant supporter of Trump.
