Bernie Sanders Slams Biden for Setting ‘Dangerous Precedent’ After Pardoning Hunter

Sen. Bernie Sanders, the independent Senator from Vermont, reportedly stated in a new interview that took place over the weekend that President Joe Biden’s decision to pardon his son established a “dangerous” precedent.

In response to a question regarding whether or not the government need to grant sweeping pardons to existing officials in order to protect them from prosecution from the incoming Trump administration, Sanders made these remarks during an interview that took place on Sunday on NBC News’ “Meet the Press” with Kristen Welker.

After that, Welker questioned Sanders on the lies that Biden had told the American public regarding his refusal to pardon his son, Hunter Biden, who had been convicted of a felony.

“Senator, was it the right decision for the country to pardon Hunter Biden?” Welker asked Sanders.

“When you have his opponents going after his family, as a father, as a parent, I think we can all understand Biden trying to protect his son and his family,” Sanders said in response.

“On the other hand, I think the precedent being set is kind of a dangerous one. It’s a very wide-open pardon which could under different circumstances lead to problems in terms of future presidents.” he added.

Sanders also stated to Welker that he intends on collaborating with President-elect Trump to raise the minimum wage, which has been at $7.25 per hour since 2009. Sanders was speaking about the minimum wage.

Welker stated that Trump admitted that it was too low, but Sanders stated that the most recent time he attempted to raise it to $15 per hour was two years ago, and that no Republican voted in favor of it on that occasion.

“Look, a $7.25 per hour minimum wage is an absolute disgrace. We have millions of people in this country who are working for starvation wages. They cannot afford housing, that cannot afford to adequately feed their kids.” Sanders said.
