The presenter of Fox News, Will Cain, reportedly took issue with Joe Biden’s recent statement that President-elect Donald Trump could learn “decency” from Jimmy Carter, who had just passed away.
Following the news of the passing of the former United States President, who was 100 years old, Vice President Joe Biden addressed reporters from his vacation in the United States Virgin Islands on Sunday evening.
He partially read aloud from his formal statement and described his friendship with President Carter and his late wife, Rosalynn Carter.
“Is there anything President Trump could take from President Carter?” a reporter asked Biden.
“Decency. Decency. Decency.” he said.
Cain insisted that Biden has “no standing” to make such a jab.
“On the note of Joe Biden…I’ll accept the message without accepting the messenger. I accept that Jimmy Carter was an example of decency. I don’t necessarily want to hear that from Joe Biden when he’s using it actually as a political tool to suggest that Donald Trump is indecent.” Cain said.
“That was in response to a question about Donald Trump and comparing the two, I believe, when he invoked Biden invoked decency. I don’t think Biden has the standing to testify to someone’s decency, quite honestly. But that doesn’t mean he’s wrong about Jimmy Carter and Jimmy Carter, a decent man.” he added.
Cain’s comment came in the wake of Katie Pavlich, a co-host of Fox & Friends, making unfavorable comparisons between Biden and Carter.
“There are reasons why there are comparisons of the Biden presidency — 0ne-term president — to the Carter era in terms of unemployment, the economy, disasters around the world. Foreign policy, Iran, Hamas having a foothold in a number of places. Comparisons between the two administrations are not in good ways as we should say.” Pavlich said.
