During an interview this week, Senator John Fetterman, a Democrat from Pennsylvania, reportedly stated that he will now vote for the nominees proposed by President-elect Donald Trump because he believes that this is “how democracy works.”
The comments were made by Fetterman during an interview with Bret Baier on Fox News on Tuesday evening.
“Well, you know, I met with her, in fact I think I’ve met with virtually all of them, and the ones that I haven’t, they’re on my schedule, RFK and Governor Noem, so I’m happy to meet with all of them.” Fetterman said.
“And that’s also part of this, I don’t know why that was controversial. I mean, I got a lot of blowback just, you know, even to meet with them, and to me, I see that as just doing my job, and I’m going to have a conversation with anyone that would like to have a conversation with me.” he continued.
“And if someone believed everything that’s been written or said about me was true, I mean, you can’t possibly know me, or I think I could know her either, just based on someone read, but I’m going to sit down and have a conversation, and I’m really glad that I’ve done that, and some of these nominees I’m going to vote for already,” he added.
The interview took place just a few of hours after Fetterman had met with Sean Duffy, a former representative from Wisconsin who is Trump’s choice for Secretary of Transportation.
Duffy, Senator Marco Rubio (R-FL) for Secretary of State, Representative Elise Stefanik (R-NY) for United Nations Ambassador, and Brooke Rollins for Secretary of Agriculture are all candidates who he intends to vote for. He also plans to vote to confirm Duffy.
