Chuck Todd, the top political analyst for NBC News and the former host of Meet the Press, has reportedly been “quietly” discussing his departure from the network, which he has called home for more than 27 years, with other media companies and sources.
Todd served as the host of the flagship program Meet the Press for a period of nine years; Kristen Welker currently fills same role.
Despite the fact that NBC News indicated at the time of the move that the former host and anchor will be involved in larger initiatives beyond MTP, Todd has had a significantly less visible presence across both NBC News and MSNBC up until this point.
Chuck Todd has been meeting with other media groups in Washington, DC, in a covert manner to discuss his future after leaving NBC.
The former host of Meet the Press has informed top editors and officials from other media organizations that he intends to quit NBC when his contract expires this year.
He has also discussed the possibility of taking on responsibilities outside of the network, both in broadcast and digital media.
In a public statement, Todd voiced his disapproval of NBC’s decision to appoint Ronna McDaniel, who had previously served as the chair of the Republican National Committee.
In spite of the fact that the network promptly reversed its decision, several of its employees began to question Todd’s future at the company.
