State Senator in Georgia Arrested During Speech From Governor

Colton Moore, a Republican state senator from Georgia, was reportedly taken into custody and taken to the Fulton County Jail on Thursday.

Moore was doing so because he attempted to enter the House Chamber in order to listen to Governor Brian Kemp’s (R) state address after being barred from entering the area the previous year.

“It has gone too far. I have an obligation to be in that room,” Moore told officers guarding the chamber.

“I represent 200,000 people in northwest Georgia who duly elected me to be here today,” he added as he was being thrown to the ground.

According to him, the contact was caused by his ongoing campaign against District Attorney Fani Willis, who was the judge who presided over the election meddling case involving President-elect Trump.

Due to the fact that she had an affair with one of the most capable prosecutors, she was just removed from the case.

In the year 2023, Moore was expelled from the Republican caucus for his demand that a “impossible” investigation be conducted against Willis during a special session.

The efforts that Moore took were praised by Bruce LeVell, who had previously served as a senior adviser to Trump.

“Colton Moore, a loyal, hardworking, pro-Trump Georgia State Senator, was handcuffed and arrested by the House Speaker after attempting to attend the State of the State session to fulfill his duties,”  LeVell wrote on X.

Moore is currently undergoing medical care at Emory University Hospital Midtown, which is located in Atlanta.

Moore was freed from jail on Thursday, some hours after the event, and he issued an update to indicate that he is currently receiving treatment there.
