President Donald Trump reportedly announced on March 17, 2025, that he is terminating the Secret Service protection for President Joe Biden’s adult children, Hunter and Ashley Biden.
In a social media post, Trump stated that this revocation of protective details would take effect immediately.
He expressed his discontent with the number of agents assigned, highlighting that Hunter Biden, who is 55, had up to 18 agents on his detail, calling it “ridiculous.”
Trump pointed out that Hunter is currently vacationing in South Africa, a country facing criticism for its human rights record.
Trump also mentioned that Ashley Biden, who is 43 and has 13 agents assigned to her protection, would similarly have her detail cut.
This decision underscores the ongoing political tensions surrounding the Biden family, especially considering that former presidents and their spouses receive Secret Service protection for life, while protection for their children over the age of 16 ceases when the president leaves office.
In addition to revoking the Secret Service detail, Trump used the occasion to address pardons granted by Biden during his final days in office, claiming that they were potentially void due to questions about whether Biden himself signed them or if an autopen was used.
He labeled these pardons as “VOID, VACANT, AND OF NO FURTHER FORCE OR EFFECT,” asserting that Biden lacked knowledge of these actions.
This announcement reflects the continuing contentious relationship between Trump and the Biden administration, and it appears to be part of Trump’s broader strategy to challenge Biden’s actions and legitimacy as president.
