In a recent episode of “Pod Save America,” former Obama aide Tommy Vietor reportedly expressed his frustration with President Joe Biden, urging him to refrain from giving speeches following his first major address since leaving office.
Vietor, alongside co-host Brian Tyler Cohen, criticized Biden’s remarks, particularly his comments targeting former President Donald Trump regarding Social Security.
Vietor admitted to feeling “very mad” at Biden and shared that he has been learning “enraging” details about alleged efforts to cover up Biden’s physical and mental decline, as revealed in CNN anchor Jake Tapper’s upcoming book, Original Sin: President Biden’s Decline, Its Cover-up, and His Disastrous Choice to Run Again, set to be published in May.
While Vietor acknowledged Biden’s contributions and service, he insisted that the party needs to move forward and not dwell on his administration.
He emphasized that Democrats are frustrated with issues like inflation and the overall direction of the party.
Cohen supported this sentiment, highlighting the need for generational change within the Democratic Party and suggesting that the current leadership is holding the party back.
Vietor stated, “We don’t want to talk about his administration right now,” indicating that many voters are dissatisfied and looking for new leadership.
He noted that while Biden’s speeches might be financially motivated, they are not what the party needs at this critical juncture.
Overall, both Vietor and Cohen called for a shift away from focusing on Biden and towards finding new voices and solutions to address the challenges facing the Democratic Party.
Their comments reflect a growing sentiment among some party members that it’s time for a fresh approach as the 2024 elections approach.
