Sarah Palin has announced her intention to run for the seat vacated by the death of United States Representative Don Young, in Alaska the Wall Street Journal reports.
Palin, the former governor of Alaska and Republican vice presidential candidate in 2008, said she plans to run for the seat. The path however, will not be. an easy one, as the battle for the seat is already a crowded one.
Young passed away last month, and now the battle for his seat is heating up. Palin became an immediate Republican rockstar when she was thrust into the spotlight when picked by John McCain to be his running mate.
Palin stated in announcing her intention to run, “America is at a tipping point… As I’ve watched the far left destroy the country, I knew I had to step up and join the fight.” She cited inflation, immigration and energy security as central issues in her campaign.
The issues that will be central to her campaign, per Palin, will be immigration, inflation, and energy. Palin, who has always been a strong fundraiser, will likely be an early favorite to win the set. Dozens of candidates have already filed to run for the June primary special election to fill Young’s seat. The winner will have to win again in November to hold the seat for the next two years.
