Democrat Congressman Thomas Suozzi (NY) and New York gubernatorial candidate is breaking with Democrats on the Florida parental rights bill Nicole Silverio of The Daily Caller reports.
Suozzi called the bill titled “Parental Rights in Education,” “reasonable” in a break from liberals who are losing their minds over the legislation.
Speaking to WABC Suozzi stated, “I think it’s a very reasonable law not to try to get kids in kindergarten to be talking about sex. I wish it wouldn’t become such a hot button issue where people are just attacking each other—it’s just common sense. I’m very much in favor of equal rights, I’m very much in favor of treating gay people fairly and treating them like the human beings they are.”
The legislation prohibits the discussion pf sexual orientation and gender identity in grades K-3, and to notify parents of any changes of physical, mental, or emotional health.
Suozzi doubled down in another statement saying that while it may not be politically correct it is nothing if not “common sense” to him.
Democrats boldly opposed the legislation and openly slammed the idea of parental rights.
Disney, Florida’s main employer, has taken opposition to the bill as well, claiming without merit that the law will be struck down by the courts.
