Crime has once again entered the threshold of Lee Zeldin’s life.
The Wall Street Journal is reporting that two people were shot outside the home of Zeldin on Long Island.
The recent shooting on Long Island follows an incident in July where a man armed with a knife attacked Zeldin on stage. [READ MORE: Man Attacks NY Gubernatorial Candidate Lee Zeldin]
Zeldin’s two daughters were home at the time of the shooting and according to the report had to hide when the shooting took place.
According to Zeldin, “Law enforcement is currently at our house. My entire family is at home working with the investigators and providing the security footage from our home cameras… My daughters are shaken but OK. Like so many New Yorkers, crime has literally made its way to our front door. “
Although the shooting occured outside of Zeldin’s home it does not appear to be related to his candidacy for governor.
Zeldin is currently trailing New York Democrat Governor Kathy Hochul in the race.
Polls show Zeldin trailing by anywhere from 2 to 17 points. His campaign message is focusing on rising crime rates and inflation something that are out of control in the state.
