Haley Claims DeSantis’ Controversial Education Bill Not Enough

Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley (R) reportedly attacked the so-called Don’t Say Gay bill passed into law by Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) last year on Thursday, saying it doesn’t go “far enough.”

The Parental Rights in Education Act of Florida, called “Don’t Say Gay” by opponents, prohibits school instruction on sexual orientation and gender identity from kindergarten through third grade.

The measure has sparked a fierce nationwide outcry from extreme liberal organizations.

On Wednesday, Haley started her presidential candidacy for 2024, making her the first Republican to publicly oppose former President Trump for the party’s nomination.

DeSantis is largely anticipated to run in the election as well by most political observers.

“I think Ron’s been a good governor. I just think that third grade’s too young. We should not be talking to kids in elementary school about gender, period.” Haley said.

“And if you are going to talk to kids about it, you need to get the parents’ permission to do that. That is something between a parent and a child. That is not something that schools need to be teaching.” she continued.

Haley’s jab at DeSantis’s came quickly after she took a veiled swipe at former President Trump by remarking that it was time for voters to put the past behind them and move forward.
