FBI Searching for Four Americans Kidnapped by Armed Gunmen in Mexico

According to the FBI, four US citizens were beaten and abducted after crossing the border into northern Mexico on Friday.

According to a notice from the FBI in San Antonio, the American individuals were shot upon shortly after driving into the border city of Matamoros, Mexico, on Friday. The victims’ identities were not revealed by the agency.

According to the FBI, the Americans were driving a white minivan with North Carolina registration plates.

The FBI is asking for the public’s assistance in finding the Americans and identifying those responsible for the kidnapping. The agency established a $50,000 reward for the return of the victims and the arrest of those involved.

Matamoros is renowned for fighting between Gulf drug cartel groups, and the bloodshed on Friday was so severe that the US Embassy issued a notice.

The FBI stated that it is working with other federal partners as well as Mexican law enforcement to investigate the kidnapping.

For US nationals considering visiting Tamaulipas, the US State Department has issued a “Level 4: Do Not Go” recommendation, citing violence and abduction.
