The former press secretary for the White House, Sean Spicer, has reportedly decided to seek other opportunities and will no longer host the show “Spicer & Co.” on Newsmax.
After working for Newsmax for three years, his co-host Lyndsay Keith made the announcement that she will be leaving the network on March 21.
Before beginning his program on Newsmax, Spicer rose to popularity serving as the first press secretary for the White House under the Trump administration.
Spicer’s political career began in the early 2000s, when he worked as the Republican National Committee’s communications director.
During his tenure in this post, he was instrumental in the party gaining control of the House of Representatives in the 2002 midterm elections.
He also worked on George W. Bush’s and Dick Cheney’s re-election campaigns.
Spicer worked as a political consultant for several years after leaving the RNC, coaching candidates and political groups on communication strategy and media relations.
Spicer was appointed White House press secretary by President Donald Trump in December 2016
He was in charge of conducting the daily press briefings, which frequently devolved into angry arguments with members of the liberal media.
In March, Newsmax and DirecTV came to an agreement about a new contract, which came after the TV provider had canceled the network due to failed negotiations regarding a pricing disagreement.
The decision by DirecTV to stop carrying Newsmax resulted in allegations of political censorship as well as an investigation by Republican lawmakers.
