At a hearing on Tuesday, Republican Marjorie Taylor Greene of Georgia reportedly ripped after Democratic Rep. Eric Swalwell of California for his alleged “sexual relationship” with a suspected Chinese spy.
Swalwell had been interrogating Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas on an increase in antisemitic incidents before to Greene’s statements.
“That was quite entertaining from someone that had a sexual relationship with a Chinese spy and everyone knows it, but thanks for entertaining,” Greene said.
Due to his alleged contact with Christine Fang, a suspected Chinese spy also known as Fang Fang, Rep. Eric Swalwell had previously been expelled expelled by Republican House Speaker Kevin McCarthy from the House Intelligence Committee.
From 2011 to 2015, she reportedly developed relationships with Swalwell and other California lawmakers under the supervision of China’s Ministry of State Security.
A Dec. 2020 Axios piece claims that Fang reportedly combined Swalwell’s campaign contributions and supplied an intern for his congressional office.
According to reports, she grew close to Swalwell and engaged in sexual activity with two mayors of American communities in the Midwest.
Greene was urged to take back her remarks regarding Swalwell, but she declined. Committee Republicans prevented Democrats from appealing the decision when GOP Tennessee Rep. Mark Green, the committee chair, declined to remove the remark from the record.
