In order to help Democrats regain control of the House of Representatives next year, which would require a net gain of at least five seats, a Democratic group that focuses on swing elections is reportedly announcing its strategy.
The “Win Back the House” plan was unveiled on Tuesday by Swing Left, a nonprofit that gathers volunteers and donations to back Democrats in some of the most closely watched contests.
Executive Director Yasmin Radjy gave a glimpse of the initial target district list during a recent interview.
According to Radjy, the list focuses on states that don’t generally receive significant funding during presidential election cycles.
Last year, Republicans needed to pick up five seats to take control of the House. They ended up winning nine more.
The group’s list includes six GOP-held target districts, all of which are located in the red states of California, New York, and Oregon.
The week after the Supreme Court’s Dobbs v. Jackson ruling, which overruled Roe v. Wade and Planned Parenthood v. Casey, Radjy said the organization noticed an increase in volunteer sign-ups.
As the cycle goes on, the organization intends to add more districts to its list of priority areas. Below is the original list.

- NY-03 (Rep. George Santos)
- NY-04 (Rep. Anthony D’Esposito)
- NY-17 (Rep. Mike Lawler)
Since its inception in 2017, Swing Left claims to have more than a million members and to have collected $80 million for Democratic politicians, community groups, and voter mobilization activities.
