After declaring earlier this month that he will seek the Republican nomination for president in 2024, former governor of Arkansas Asa Hutchinson (R) reportedly formally began his presidential campaign on Wednesday.
Using his own track record as governor and criticism of the Biden administration’s economic management, Hutchinson.
Hutchinson did not mention the late president Trump by name, but he seemed to criticize his positions and earlier comments.
Hutchinson committed not to cut the FBI’s funding, as Trump has demanded.
Also, the former governor argued against a Republican foreign policy which he claims is ‘isolationism.’
In an effort to distinguish himself from Trump, Hutchinson has urged the former president to withdraw from the race.
In the Republican primary, which has been dominated by Trump and Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R), who has not yet formally entered the campaign, the former governor will likely have a difficult road ahead of him.
