In a letter to senior executives at the network, the attorney for Tucker Carlson reportedly accused Fox News of fraud and contract violations.
Before Tuesday afternoon’s Carlson video on Twitter stating he was introducing a new version of his show on the site, lawyer Bryan Freedman wrote to Fox execs Viet Dinh and Irena Briganti.
According to a report from Axios, the letter positions Carlson to argue that the non-compete clause in his contract is no longer legitimate, allowing him to launch the program or a new media firm.
According to the article, the letter claims that the network violated an agreement with Carlson to keep his private correspondence secret and not release them to the public.
The decision by Fox management to remove Carlson on the air was widely reported to have been influenced by some of Carlson’s private texts.
The petition also claims that Fox News breached its agreement with Dominion Voting Systems over the Carlson case. Carlson said that a board member informed him that the Dominion settlement was one of the factors contributing to his removal off the air.
Carlson was not removed from the air as a result of the Dominion settlement, according to Fox News.
