Rep. Adam Schiff, D-Calif., would be fined $16 million for saying that former President Trump cooperated with Russia to win the 2016 election, according to a new resolution reportedly presented by Rep. Anna Paulina Luna, R-Fla.
That sum, according to Luna, is almost equal to the cost of the federal investigation into the claimed Trump-Russia conspiracy, which was refuted by the special counsel reports from both John Durham and Robert Mueller.
According to Luna’s resolution, Schiff had a position of extreme trust as the head of the House Permanent Select Committee on Intelligence, giving him access to confidential material that was not available to other members.
“The GOP Conference agrees that Adam Schiff has betrayed the trust of the American people, purposely abused positions of extreme authority, lied continuously, and as such, must be held to account.
Accordingly, the resolution requires Rep. Schiff to pay a $16 million dollar fine, half of the cost American taxpayers were forced to pay for the Russia hoax investigation.” Luna said.
“By repeatedly telling these falsehoods, Representative Schiff purposely deceived his Committee, Congress, and the American people,” Luna’s resolution reads.
Schiff, however, “abused this trust” by asserting the existence of proof of collaboration that was later disproven by special counsel findings.
Luna unveiled a different proposal last week to oust Schiff from Congress for misusing his influence on the intelligence committee.
