Tuesday, when former primetime anchor Tucker Carlson broadcast a 10-minute monologue to Twitter that was touted as the premiere of his new show, Fox News reportedly sent Carlson a letter accusing him of breaching his contract.
The network is still Carlson’s employer. Despite the fact that his contract is valid until 2025, he was abruptly removed from the air in April. For terminating his show, Carlson has charged Fox News with fraud and breach of contract.
After the first episode of “Tucker on Twitter” was published, Fox News chief counsel Bernard Gugar wrote to Carlson’s legal counsel.
Because Twitter is not a direct competitor of the network, according to Carlson’s legal counsel, “Tucker on Twitter” is exempt from the Fox News contract restrictions.
By Wednesday night, Carlson’s debut episode of his new Twitter program had received almost 90 million impressions.
The necessity of free speech and voices outside of the traditional media, as well as the dishonesty of the Ukrainian regime and its accomplices in the U.S. deep state, were all major themes of Carlson’s monologue.
Following a record $787 million defamation deal with Dominion Voting Systems, which had sued the network for making false accusations about the firm, Carlson was fired from Fox News in April.
