In a potentially shocking turnaround, aides to former president Trump have now told Politico that the he may actually be considering Rep. Nancy Mace for his Vice-President.
The report comes as a major about face for the former president who has clash repeatedly with Mace in the past, frequently over her more moderate positions on hot-button culture war issues.
The news has leaked out just as Mace has begun to defend Trump more than usual in media appearances.
n the past two weeks, Mace has claimed on primetime and daytime news programs, as well as on Twitter and Facebook, that President Joe Biden’s administration is attempting to stop the Democrats’ number one presidential opponent. Mace was the first member of Congress to appear on Fox News the night this month’s news of Trump’s latest indictment emerged.
“Donald Trump’s no fan of mine, he primaried me last year. So, I’m not a shill, but I see this, and I see how unfair it’s been.” Mace said to Fox host Harris Faulkner during her appearance.
It was a remarkable turnaround for someone who had harshly criticized Trump after the Capitol disturbance.
In addition, Mace stated in a recent interview that she was ready to ‘bury the hatchet’ with Trump to stop Joe Biden.
“We can’t afford four more years of Joe Biden. I’m willing to bury the hatchet to save the country, and I know President Trump is too.” Mace remarked.
Two Trump world aides privately discussed the possibility of Mace becoming his running mate during a private conversation with Politico after Mace’s flurry of television successes defending Trump.
Both noted that she may be useful in attracting important suburban women in a general election contest that Trump lost the first time around.
In the Republican presidential primaries, Mace has not yet declared an endorsement nor indicated whether she would accept a position on Trump’s ticket as vice-president if it was offered to her.
