Invoking the alleged passion of his fan base, the former president Donald Trump reportedly warned that it would be “very dangerous” for him to go to jail over the additional accusations he’s expected to face due to Special Counsel Jack Smith’s probe.
When Trump stated on Tuesday that he was about to be indicted in Special Counsel Jack Smith’s investigation investigating Trump’s activities around the 2020 election leading up to the January 6 attack on the Capitol, he totally hijacked the news cycle.
“I think it’s a very dangerous thing to even talk about, because we do have a tremendously passionate group of voters, much more passion than they had in 2020 and much more passion than they had in 2016. I think it would be very dangerous.” Trump said.
Since then, Trump has blasted the accusations in a number of public settings, and it didn’t take him long to bring up the possibility of the violence that his fans engaged in after he incited them on January 6.
Following the announcement, Trump spoke with The Simon Conway Show in Iowa on Tuesday.
Trump was questioned by Wagner about his response to his followers if he were imprisoned prior to his trial.
Similar and occasionally more direct remarks by Trump have been made in the past.
