According to a recent Monmouth University poll, President Joe Biden would reportedly easily defeat former President Donald Trump in a 2024 rematch of the presidential election, even if Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) launched a third-party campaign, which most analysts believe would hurt the Biden campaign.
In the 910-voter nationwide survey, 47% of respondents indicated that they would definitely or probably support Biden, while just 40% indicated that they would support Trump.
Surprisingly, Biden’s lead over Trump would only be somewhat reduced by a prospective unity ticket consisting of Senator Joe Manchin and former Utah governor Jon Huntsman (R).
Biden would still hold a 40%-34% advantage over Trump even with Manchin on the ballot.
Half of voters stated they would “definitely” not back Trump in 2024, while 63% of voters claimed to have a negative opinion of the president.
The Monmouth survey was released not long after Trump declared that he will probably soon be charged for the third time this year, this time on suspicion of participating in the Capitol riot on January 6, which followed his defeat to Biden.
Nevertheless, Trump continues to be the overwhelming favorite to win the Republican presidential nominee.
