Rudy Giuliani, a former Trump attorney, reportedly said he will not refute the defamation action made by two Atlanta poll workers who accuse him of accusing them of rigging the 2020 presidential election.
Giuliani claimed in a carefully written two-page statement submitted to a federal court on Tuesday night that he “does not contest” the veracity of his claims regarding Wandrea “Shaye” Moss and her mother Ruby Freeman.
The litigation is still ongoing notwithstanding the statement.
Giuliani stated that he would also fight his obligation to pay the two ladies any damages.
Moss and Freeman were among the poll workers that counted votes at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena on election night. Giuliani pushed the myth that Moss and Freeman stole votes from bags hidden beneath tables using well manipulated camera evidence.
The allegations against Moss and Freeman were also promoted by then-President Donald Trump.
Moss and Freeman claimed in a lawsuit filed in December 2021 that Giuliani damaged their reputations and made them the target of many death threats.
The former mayor of New York City Giuliani is dealing with a number of legal issues, including the defamation action.
For his “frivolous” attempts on behalf of the then-President Trump to annul the results of the 2020 election, Giuliani was advised earlier this month to be expelled from the legal profession by a disciplinary body located in the District of Columbia.
A criminal probe into suspected election meddling in Georgia is also focusing on Giuliani.
