Former Trump Official Claims He Was Led Astray by Bad Lawyers

Former President Donald Trump’s director of legislative affairs Marc Short reportedly claimed that bad counsel from the attorneys Trump hired resulted in his “tragic” mugshot during a recent CNN interview.

Later, Short served as Mike Pence’s chief of staff. Pence is now a campaign adviser for his presidential bid.

Jake Tapper, the host of Friday’s episode of The Lead, questioned Short about his opinion of Trump’s photo, which was taken last week in the Fulton County Jail.

“I think it’s sad. I think it’s tragic, Jake. I think that I’m very proud of the four years of record. And I think that the president was great to me and great to my family. So, I don’t think there’s any celebration.” Short said.

“I do think that the events of January 6 were tragic and certainly avoidable. And I think that the president got a lot of bad counsel – in many cases, counsel he sought out that I think led him astray. And I think that ultimately asking the vice president to sort of put aside the Constitution is a huge violation of your most important oath to the American people, to protect and defend the Constitution.” Short continued.

Trump was charged with trying to rig the state’s 2020 presidential election.

Trump used a number of different tactics after losing the 2020 election in a futile effort to hold onto the White House.

His main strategy was to assert that Pence had the power to veto the outcomes since he was the Congress’s chief presiding officer.

An enraged crowd of Trump supporters stormed the Capitol after Pence refused.

Due to his attempts to rig the Georgia and other elections he lost, the former president is also under indictment in federal court.
