Republican Rep. Paul Gosar Announces Reluctant Support for Hunter Biden in Gun Case

Hunter Biden has reportedly found an odd ally in far-right Arizona Republican Rep. Paul Gosar, who asserted that the indictment violates the Second Amendment rights of those facing new federal criminal charges against them.

According to court filings, President Joe Biden’s youngest son was arrested earlier this week on three federal counts related to his use of a firearm while abusing narcotics and making false claims.

If he is found guilty on all counts, Hunter could spend up to 10 years in jail.

Gosar, a fiery Republican, stated in his weekly newsletters on Sunday that he thought Hunter’s allegations violated the Second Amendment.

“No man is above the law, but no law is above the U.S. Constitution. As you all know, I am a self-defense and Second Amendment advocate. That’s why I’m not too enthusiastic about the Hunter Biden indictment handed down this week.” Gosar said.

“In my view, nobody should have to fill out a form and ‘get permission’ from an unauthorized government agency to exercise their Second Amendment right. I realize this is splashing cold water on some folks who want the Biden crime family prosecuted. But there are high crimes, treason, and bribery that should be the focus of the Biden family prosecution.” he continued.

The charges against Hunter have been welcomed by GOP lawmakers, many of whom have defended the rights of gun owners.

The younger Biden is accused of lying on a document when he bought a firearm, which is at the heart of the accusations against him.

Biden had negotiated a plea deal with federal prosecutors earlier in the summer, but the arrangement broke down in a Delaware court weeks later.

The allegations against Biden were launched by Special Counsel David Weiss, and according to his office, they will keep looking into possible tax offenses committed by the president’s son.

A presidential impeachment investigation is currently underway in the GOP-controlled House to look into whether Biden used his position as vice president to influence his son’s international business operations in China and Ukraine.
