On Wednesday, Nancy Pelosi, a Democrat, received a subpoena in a criminal case in California.
Tylease Alli, the reading clerk, read Pelosi’s statement on the House floor; it omitted any information regarding the nature of the criminal case.
“This is to notify you formally pursuant to rule 8 of the rules of the House of Representatives, that I, the honorable Nancy Pelosi, speaker emerita, and U.S. representative for the 11th congressional district of California, have been served with third party subpoenas from the prosecution and defendant to produce documents in a criminal case in the United States district court for the northern district of California,” the statement read.
“After consultation with the office of general counsel, I have determined that compliance with the subpoenas is consistent with the privileges and rights of the house. To the extent requires production of nonprivileged information the responses to the subpoenas will be identical. Signed, sincerely, Nancy Pelosi, speaker emerita.” it continued.
In October 2022, Paul Pelosi’s husband was attacked in his home.
Following an accident in May 2022, Paul Pelosi was arrested in June 2022 for driving while intoxicated.
After entering a guilty plea, he was given a five-day jail sentence and the car that caused the collision was put up for sale.
