It’s often difficult to know if we are governed by liars or fools, especially under this administration.
Last week during a conference, Secretary of Education Miguel Cardona showed that he might be a little bit of both. The secretary outrageously changed the meaning of a famous Reagan quote to justify Biden’s growing control over America’s schools.
Fox News writes:
At the 2023 Winter Meeting for the Western Governors’ Association in Jackson Hole, Wyoming earlier this month, Cardona commented on the need for “technical assistance” to be provided to schools. During the event, he invoked the former president to try and make a point.
He said, “I think it was President Reagan who said, ‘We’re from the government. We’re here to help.'”
In actuality, the quote from Reagan, which came from a press conference in 1986, read, “The nine most terrifying words in the English language are ‘I’m from the government and I’m here to help.’”
The New York Post reports that Cardona was mocked mercilessly for his attribution of Reagan to support his big government policies.
“In contrast to Cardona’s endorsement of Washington intervention, Reagan’s original statement from Aug. 12, 1986, was a warning against it.
‘I think you all know that I’ve always felt the nine most terrifying words in the English language are: ‘I’m from the Government, and I’m here to help,’” the 40th president told reporters while discoursing on US agriculture policy.
‘A great many of the current problems on the farm were caused by government-imposed embargoes and inflation, not to mention government’s long history of conflicting and haphazard policies.’”
It might be time for Secretary Cardona to pick up a book himself.
