On Friday, the presenters of Fox & Friends lauded Sen. John Fetterman (D-PA), whose health issues have long been the subject of intense criticism on Fox News, for his recent reprimand of progressives on issues like immigration and the currently Israeli war against Hamas.
Fetterman criticized “purity tests” that progressives impose on Democrats in an interview with the New York Times this week, citing his support for Israel and efforts to secure the southern border in particular.
“It’s just a place where I’m not. I don’t feel like I’ve left the label; it’s just more that it’s left me. I’m not critical if someone is a progressive. I believe different things.” said during the interview.
In response Fox Host Brian Kilmeade announced that Fetterman was one of the two people that gave him hope for America.
“It’s weird to see this transition because I find myself every single week retweeting something that Fetterman has said. He has been very supportive of Israel.” co-host Lawrence Jones said in response.
“He was so progressive, he was a progressive,” guest host Carly Shimkus said.
“He changed!” Jones said.
“Pennsylvania’s a swing state, so maybe he’s listening to the whole state,” Shimkus responded.
“I think he has left the progressive side. I’m so grateful that he has been able to recover, but something changed in the middle of his recovery. Him going to therapy and everything. When he re-emerged his comments seemed to have changed.” Jones added.
Fox News has consistently lodged criticism towards Fetterman.
